Hey Guys,
I'm coming from a subaru background here, but I'm doing a little research for a friend of mine with a blown engine in her 97 A4 1.8t (auto, fwd).
I'm looking around for used engines and found a few for $2,100.
Does that sound like a good price?
Also, is there any vendors that you would suggest shopping with/not shopping with?

My main question is what other engines will fit? Will a Jett 1.8t fit as well? In subaru land a ej25 fits in pretty much all subarus, most of the parts are interchangeable, I wasn't sure if that was the case with VW/Audi.

1993 Subaru Impreza L/ 02/03 WRX swapped.

 

No the jetta 1.8t engine mounts transversly. Will not fit.

 

how is that price then? 2100 seem good? I called a few places and got a price similar, but I'm not sure how the market is for these things.
Also, is there anything specifc (besides the normal) that I should look out for?

I'm not really sure of the going price for an engine. Check out the link and search for what you need. Tons of places to call.

 

I actually called 8 places and get similar prices..most were higher. I'm really more interested in this vendor's reputation.
Also, I know with my club ( NASIOC) there is always "some guy" who sells parts cheap. I wasn't sure if you guys had the same thing..figured it was worth a try

2100 seems a bit steep. check the salvage yards. i know there a good euro salvage yard in caLIFORNIA. thats where i get the porsche brake parts that i use to sell my kits

 

2100 was the best price from the salvage yards. Plus, i want something that I know runs.
Any idea what the euro salvage yard was?
