Anyone have any thoughts on an APR ECU upgrade? Thinks to watch out for? Did it kick you in the butt down the road? The performance tuning shop, of course, says there's nothing to worry about. I have a 2005 1.8T, w/lots of warranty left. Is it worth the risk?

Also, any recommednations on the differenct stage kits...is there ever a risk of too much?

APR makes qaulity products. No need to worry.

 

Cool...that's what the tuning shop said. And, apparently there's some sort of Act (Moss Magnussen) that does not allow factory warranties to be completly voided. I'll have to read up on this a bit more...big corps always have a way of protecting themselves.

After a chip, what would be your next recommended mod upgrade? Just trying to think about what a new modder :-) should do step by step.

 

Get the stock and chipped programs, as well as the lockout feature. Just put it back into stock mode and lock it before bringing the car the dealer.

yeah def. get stock program and the lockout feature (worth the money!) much better to be safe than to lose your warranty. some dealerships are cool with it but most are not. they will void your warranty which is probly the worst thing that can happen to an 05 audi owner. there's nothing better than getting work done to your car and looking at the invoice to see:

TOTAL LABOR AND PARTS: $0.00

 

All great info...now the trick is to find a good, and trustworthy, place in Seattle to get all this work done. Don't have too many friends w/Audis.

 

i have been looking heavy at the APR and GIAC.. some people report slightly better mileage on the highway with the cruise set but im not sure which chip does that

i think the APR makes more power but for some reason people say the GIAC is quicker and makes the power sooner???

 

Wheels and suspension always do wonders for looks.
