I know this is an old issue but I still wanted to ask if anyone new how much overfill is too much for an 03 1.8TQ Tip with a large filter, my manual says 3.7 qts, I put 4 qts in now, the dipstick reads to the top of the dent past the full mark. So .3 qts overfill, do I run the risk of damaging my cats? Thanks in advance.

 

not a problem but next time fill to the center of the mark ( mid empty to full ) the engine breaths better

 

i wouldn't be too worried. maybe make a seal leak if anything

 

I used a large Mobil 1 filter that claims to hold 2X more oil than the average filter, would that help free up some of the pressure at operating temp? Its the same size as the largeOEM filter. The dipstick reads all the way up to the topmost part of the bend past the full mark. I think I am going to drain some of the oil to be safe... Thanks for your quick replies!

I can't believe how much the oiling systems have changed since the introduction of the 1.8T and now through the 2.0T, looks as if I don'tneedto buy as much oil(3.7 qts) compared to those with the newer 2.0T
