Default 1.8t quattro owners

first a dumb question. is the 1.820vt 150hp? second what kind of fuel consumption do you get. What if you chip it? (perfectly relevant when you pay the equivalent of$6.20 a gallon). Only out of curiosity, how much do they cost for a typical standard spec '02 in the states? (they cost the equivalent of about $33,000 here in irl).

HP depends on the year, but up through '00 the rating was 150 hp. I think it jumped to 170hp after '01 but I'm really not sure. Someone else around here would know better.

I get anywhere from 25 mpg to 30 mpg (even low 30's on the highway) depending mostly on whether the air conditioning is on and how I'm feeling that tank-full.

As for price in the northeast US, I can only speak for my 2000 1.8T Quattro with sport and convenience packages. I bought it in Dec. 2000 for $24,000 with 10,000 miles. It's now 5 years old, has 98,000 miles and well-maintained it's probably worth around $10,000.

BTW ... I'll ship you mine for $25,000 US.

no thanks, i'll need one with the steering wheel on the correct side!!! although the 250% mark-up would be familiar to me, in the land of extreme automotive expense, what's the point of having a well maintained one. I'll have nothing to cry into my beer over!!!

in response to your first question, some people find that they actually get better gas milage once their car is chipped, but you will probably have a heavy foot once its chipped, making your gas milage go down.

Note that the quoted mileage is US gallon, not Imp gallon.

Converting to Imp, you should get around 37 mpg.

my car is 170hp...it's an 03...

my car isn't chipped so i have no friggin' idea for that question..

i have usually highway miles since i mainly use it to go to work and stuff...but i would say i get an average of 25mpg depending if i cruise control it or not...

Chipping improves milage by around 2 mpg... you're new driving style will compensate for any and all of those savings.
