this treads interesting but it seems to have lost the point somewhere down the line ...
i have owned both cars so can speak from expereience , i had A4 for year or so , nice motor 1.9 TDI went well ...CAT went very expensive
i now have a 92' Urs4 (avant) , 5 cyinder 230bhp .... shes got 192k on the clock & still goes like £&it of a shovel ..
we have lots of boy racers with 1.8 T A3's & TT's around me , they now know not to mess !!!
with regards to repairs , yes the S4 is a expensive beast , i thought one of my coils had gone , there £180 each & when there's 5 it's expensive but with TLC there a great motor . shes just gone through her MOT & sailed through , not a glitch anywhere ..
so if you find a good one & look after she serve you well
