1997 Audi a4
I am wondering how much would my a4 wouldbe worth with 140k miles on it. It has suspension, its 1.8t, and I am pretty sure it will have a lightned flywheel, and new clucth, and a evo 3 16g, with supporting mods of course. It is 1.8t awd quattro, and is red. It hasgray cloth interior, but is real clean. It has bilstein strurs, with neuspeed springs, and sway bars. The engine will be rebuilt with new rings, and gaskets, plus rod bearings. I am just wondering what it is worth. I can get it for 1800 with the blown engine, is it worth the work, the turbo is a maybe though. Dont have pics but the body is mint.

Not sure what you are asking:
Are you asking is it worth it to buy it, rebuild it, and keep it to drive, or are you asking how much could you get if you rebuilt it and sold it?
If you are keeping it, I would say yes. Its going to cost you 3-4k for the rebuild, but you'll have a car with a good engine, and the other mods, for about what its worth.
If you are planning to fix and sell for a profit, I would say no, unless you can get the work done real cheap, you wont get more than what you have in it for the car, and it will be hard to sell with the miles it has and the rebuilt engine. Most folks will pass on that.

IMO you should just go to edmunds.com and check all the boxes that may relate to the upgrades. The price you end up with would balance out what value is added bythe upgrades on the vehicle against what is lost due to the blown motor.
My opinion is that upgrades and modding don't significantly add value to any vehicle, at least not the money it costs to put them in. If you are buying the vehicle, take into account if you can verify that the mods were done by someone who knows wtf they are doing. If you are selling, have documentation to show who did the mods and where; it will add value and give a potential buyer peace of mind. Also keep in mind the age of the upgrades, and whether or not they complement each other and not just random parts thrown on because they are available. Nobody s going to buy someone else's Frankenstein if they know what they are looking at.

Your talkin about a 97 here - its not that new to where you could fix it and make a worth while profit. people buy newish salvage cars to fix and sell for 3/4 the price because insurance companies sell them dirt cheap. Your lookin at spending $1800 plus 2-3k for the rebuild plus another 1k for all the other crap that will come with the hastle of installing a used engine - (timing belt being the major one)
Look at these and make up your mind
97 sold for $4300 with 123k
97 sold for $4650 with 139k
97 sold for $5500 with 89k (2.8)
If you can buy the car and fix it up with a rebuilt the engine and get it for under these prices good luck
