Default 1998 a4 headlights

My headlights wont work, they work when i pull in the highbeams, but other than that, i got nothing. Ive heard this is a comon problem and more than likely, its either a blown relay switch or a dirty one. However i am having trouble locating the relay. Any info on where it is would be appreciated. Thanks

Its likely the headlight switch in the steering column.

Here is the write up for the exact problem you are experiencing.

hey man i just had this problem... its the ingnition switch.. (when i went to the dealership to get the new part they said there is no such thing as a relay switch only x relay.) whatva.. but for sure is the ignition switch.. i just had this happen.. you have to take your steering wheel and all that chunk.. its suprisingly easy just like 10 bolts to loosen....
