Default 1998 Audi a4 2.8 Quattro

I just bought this from a friend who sells used cars. It has 93000 miles on it. I was wondering if the timing belt has been replaced on it. My thinking is that if it has that many miles it would have been changed or it would have broken by now?
Any thoughts?

Unless you have reciepts, you won't know if it was replaced. They can last longer than the recommended time but can and will just snap. I would just cough up the money and do it for peace of mind, that's what I'm doing.

Just do it, its worth the piece of mind.
If it breaks while your driving it, you're basically f*cked.

You'll be wishing you spent the measly $800 instead of 3-4k.
