Default 1999 A4 1.8T w/ 82K miles -- is it time to be breaking a lot ???

I am having ABS+Brake warning. I have 82K miles. Understand this may cost $1000... so I may just disconnect ABS control module and drive with regular brakes only.

Is it time for it to start breaking, requiring maintenance from now on?

My timing belt broke at 72K miles, and Audi fixed it free although it was out of warranty ($4500 repair bill). Soon after Audi recalled for timing belt repair or reimbursement...

My A4 is paid for, will keep driving as long as it doesn't require many repairs costing $$. This is my second spare car, driving when I make a long trip as to save gas money; my 2004 Jeep Wrangler Sahara is my daily driver.

Would appreciate feedback from those who have A4 around my 1999 model year.

I dont understand how this could cost $1,000, could you elaborate on that?? As cars get higher in mileage, things will need replacing.. It comes with the territory. If you dont want a car that you have to maintain regularly, buy a Toyota, Nissan, or Honda..

Check out this thread. Dire warning about how expensive it is to repair.

ABS+ Brake Warning

By the way, would you believe that timing belt repair bill was just under $4500? Bent valves, head job, etc. Far more than other cars.

THe ABS module can be had for $450 or less if you DIY.
