Has anyone had a whining noise in 1st gear. It only happens under acceleration, and seems to be there whether the car is warm or cold. It sounds similar to reverse, but far quieter.

Really? If thats the case, it's a huge relief to me! Maybe I'm feeling a little buyers remorse, and it makes me nervous.
Giltrap Prestige quoted me NZ $7800 to repair, and $13,900 to replace!!! Ouch.

Yeah you got it! Ridiculous eh, no wonder he sponsors the A1GP New Zealand team!
Another local workshop said would be between $800 - $2500 NZ to rebuild the box.
Not sure what to do now.
