I'm looking to add a few upgrades to my new A4. I have the 2.8 and I have been looking around at different chips. I noticed that the most you get in the chip upgrade for a 2.8 is 5-6 hp. Is this worth the money? Are there other noticable differences? Also, does anyone do the flash on the 2.8? I hear its better for upgrades and things like that.

 

You hear the 2.8 is better for upgrades??????? You heard wrong. It depends on YOU wether its worth it or not. General logic suggests HELL NO. But when it comes down to it, its up to you wether 5-6hp is worth$300(?) If youre interested in going fast/modifying your car within a reasonable budget,then you should sell your 2.8 and buy a 1.8t. You could get a super charger for $3-4k, but for some reason hardly anyone ever does that.

 

No....sorry I didn't hear the 2.8 was better for upgrades...I heard that the flash is better because you can upgrade, as with the chip, it can't be upgraded...

 

When i think Audi, N/A rarely to never comes to mind. The new s4 and rs4's might, but i doubt it will change my mind.

 

if you like to track a car without the turbo lag the chip is actually pretty good for the V6, while its not going to add alot of hp if any it will change the air/fuel curves and timing and such so throttle response is better and it "feels faster" and probably will hold on to the hp to a higher rev than just starting to drop off after the 5500rpm max. the real question is are you happy with these factors now or do you want to spend 300-500 for that little more oomph. in the 1.8t the chip basically does the same but also turns up the boost so thats why the 1.8t and 2.7t guys jump 40hp-70hp
