Wait, why wouldn't a VR6 be considered a swap?

I'm guessing he means it's not an 'easy' swap. It would require custom fabrication most likely.

It would be a bitch +1 to do a VR6 swap, and not really worth it, either!

a vr6 would totally be worth it.. about the same weight at a 2.7t or a 2.8, and if you use a 24v vr then you have a much higher displacement then the 2.7 or 2.8

but its only been done once, by a major shop, and it took alot of custom fabrication and tuning.. not exactly the kind of swap some guy could do in his garage in a weekend, or even a decent tuning shop

Should be lessweight and far less space. Also you can get a 12v for far less and would probably be easier to get a standalone to work with it since you will have to run one anyways for it to work.

yea, but running full standalone you then have the issue of passing inspection , and i'd venture to say that most people that want to do this.. want to drive the car on the street
