As some of you know I'm on the hunt for a new (to me) Audi. See thread: https://www.audiforums.com/m_199971/.../tm.htm#199971

The only thing I'm worried about with the 3.0 is that it wont have enough power for me. I'm not looking for a speed demon, but I do want a Qauttro and Trip trans, and I think thats going to put a load on the 3.0. And with the only real mod option being a 5-6K S/C I was thinking about looking at the 01 S4's.

Here's what I think, PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong.

the 2.8 twin should get about the same MPG as the 3.0 under normal drving?
The S4 ride wont be quite as nice, but better in the corners
The 2.8 S4 should have more power all the way through?

I'm sure there are more differences... but I'm not sure what they are. Any pointers here would be great. I hope to drive them both, but I'm in a hurry to get a new car from my GF and work has me flying all over the play (in Germany now, going to North Carolina next).

PS. I got a cool pic of my Audi A3 2.0 rental in the Alps, and was able to get it up to 230kph today on my way back to the hotel. Germany truly is the ultimate driving experince!!!

 

The S4 has a 2.7 twin turbo. There is a 2.8 motor, but its only for pre-2002 A4's, and makes a lot less horsepower, and has no turbo.

modifaction of the s4 will be fun, just a chip the b5 will get you a nice ballsy car. the 3.0 is very nice, has that sexy b6 look. not going to be anywhere near as ***** to the wall. 3.0 is a very nice car to everyday drive. but if your looking for put you in your seat power, i think two turbos shoud suffice!!! my sister rocks an '05 3.0, other sister has '05 1.8t(yea they all copied me and we have diff dads, their's spoils them.) 3.0 is pretty nice tho. not fast

 

Simple, if you going for HP you wanna go with S4. This car got lots of mods you can play with. Now if you going for the classy look, go with b6 but there're not much mods except for intake and exhaust or if you have $$ then SC.

 

I personally would pick the S4..not that I'm bias or anything!
