Default 2.8 vs the turbo...

if buying used, which one is more reliable, the turbo or the non turbo. im not keen into spending like 14 grand for just the car then like 3 more grand to fix it in a month...if it happens it happens, but what is the more reliable model and how much do you think i should look to spend for around a 99-01 model with like 50k + miles?? thanks a lot!

you should definatly be able to find one in your price range. easy way is to go on autotrader.com and do a power search in your zip code.

also like black99 said, go with the 1.8T you'll be happier in the long run IMO.

The 2.8 v6 is more reliable than the turbo but the turbo can be moddified easier. If your main concern is reliability, go for the 2.8.

The only big thing on the 2.8 is the timing belt. Mine is very reliable but i wish i bought a 1.8T b/c they're very few mods for the 2.8 but there is a nice supercharger if u have 5 grand for it.

If hes not going to mod it, then get the 2.8, no doubt.
