Is 2.8 worht upgrading
or u just buy a used g2 for 2500 to 3000 and give it a bottle and blow everyone away (except for tomritt). hehehehe, no one as far as i know has succesfully blownup a 2.8 on Nos or to much boost. I kno a few guys on s/caudi.com that have tried it numerous times.
the SPI on my focus is the same... but if it weren't for the ubercheap turbo buildup i can do... i wouldn't even think of modding it, because clearly the Zetec is a 10x easier to mod car when it comes down to it
oh, yeah, that's true too. the SPI is just cheap because of the worldwide useage, and it's age... it's been improved upon for over 10years, and all those mods from 10years ago can be used on the focus. i can piece together a turbo for under $1000, and not have to do any engine management
I'll be the first to steer you away from an FMU, because you can not turbo any NA car without proper fuel management. I'm not to familiar with the focus's but I know there has to be programs so you can burn your own chip out there for it.
Again, FMU's are garbage and inaccurate and not efficient on fuel injected cars.

i'd be weary too, and with any other car i'd completly agree with you. but (and i was really surprised to learn this) with the turbo added, I can run #42 injectors with ONLY changing the MAF to a 70mm off a 4.6 Mustang GT or crown vic. that's it. initially... I had thought this was a bullsh*t setup.. but there's guys out there running this setup for years... and they only change to custom management when they want more power... either way, it's sick IMO
4 x #42 injectors
4.6 MAF
Escort GT header
any turbo
custom piping
it's been done time and time again for under $1000
sick eh?

I guess, I still don't think I would do it. But I'd have to look deeper into it.
And you can't really just say "any" turbo. Each turbo flows differently and will perform differently. Unless you know exactly where to set the boost for said "fuel management" with the accompying turbo.

a clutch, chip, intake, port polish, cams, pistons, neons....lol, j/k on the neons. weight reduction. there is plenty of things to do...just wont be on the same badass level as us 1.8T's. [8D]

any other... a boost controller will regulate it
