2 questions. Am I supposed to have....

#1. An auto-dimming rearview mirror? (not side mirrors)
#2. A trunk release on the inside of the vehicle?

Just wondering becuase I have neither. Thanks.

 

#1 I dont think so never heard of it.
#2 It should be on the inside of the door there are 3 buttons. Gas tank, trunk and alarm.

 

Well, since you didn't say exactly what year your B5 is, we can't tell you for sure. (There were a few revisions over the years). However, since your car does not have those, it stands to reason that it is NOT supposed to have them - otherwise, it would.

For what it's worth, mine doesn't have those, either. I'm pretty sure those are post-facelift features (1999.5 and later model year).

 

#1 will only work at night to prevent blinding lights which would be auto tilt and not within your control.

#2 you either have it or not mine is on the the remote fob

1- no. mine has this little tab at the bottom of the mirror, and when i pull it forward everything becomes dark in the mirror (handy when **** with their brights on get behind you)

2- again nope, just have to push the button on the trunk when the doors are unlocked

 

i think the auto dimming was a feature of the 2.8 cuz the 2.8 is more luxurious than the 1.8 hehehe
as for the trunk release, there isn't one inside. acutally i haven't seen a b5 with a remote trunk open either.

I have the same model ('01 1.8T Q) and my rearview mirror auto dims. As Techbod said it only does so at night to prevent glare from headlights behind you.
