Default 2000 a4 2.8

im going for my first test drive of a 2000 a4 2.8 L
the guy has 83k miles on the car and no timing belt done yet.
this is an audi certified car with warranty ending in a few months,so its been taken care of well.

All New brake pads and rotors. New Continental Extreme Contact Ultra High Performance Tires

Im just curious is there anything I should know about this car ,or ask the guy before buying it??
im new to all this

that timing belt should be replaced asap....press down on the front end and listen for any clunks or squeaks...if you hear anything, it's probably worn suspension parts that need replacing....make sure the headlight works and all the dash lights....keep the radio OFF during the drive...

Either have him do the timing belt first or use the impending cost to negotiate down the price. It should have been done by now.

The control arms and tie rods will be a problem area even after you have them checked. It's just something an Audi owner has to be aware of.

tie rods can be a couple hundred bucks per side i believe...but the tie rod ends are more likely the only part that will go bad (the only part of the tie rod i mean)....tie rod ends can be bought at ecstuning for 70 bucks a pair, or you can get heavy duty ends from the same place for about 100 bucks...theyre very easy to install yourself....the control arms i don't really know....like i said, there may be a recall that would make the lowers free...the uppers you can buy at....yup, you guessed it....ecstuning again.

i dont see why everyone likes them so much. sure thats a great upgrade but theres not much u can do after that. A s4 is teh same or close to performance and an s4 has a lot to go from there.
