Default 2000 A4, ease of modifying

im looking at a 2000 A4, 1.8t quattro. this is my first audi but ive been the vw block a few times....anything i should know in particular about modding a 2000 model versus modding an earlier year? my plans are going to be big turbo upgrade, chip, dv, injectors, etc...

any tips or advice is appreciated...

thanks

2000 is the year they started the throttle-by-wire. The 99.5 model year has the exterior of the 00, but has the cable throttle. the 99 and earlier has a slightly different exterior (mostly minor). 99.5, which has the AEB motor, is said to be the best year to mod. It's also easier to get parts for the AEB than the 00 ATW.

If you do a quick search, there's a ton of information around here.

I got a 2000 and u can feel the throttle-by-wire. its not like cable throttle when u floor it u can feel it, with mine it kinda takes some time, not alot but u can feel the difference between the 2.

ive got some experience with drive by wire. my girl has a 02 jetta 1.8t (upsoluted, dv, exhaust, otherwise stock). not too concerned with the throttle response really...

did a quick search and from what i can determine dbw is preferred for big turbo upgrades because of more readily available software. seems the drive by cable a4's are harder to tune...is that the general consensus? anyone with some real world experience.

thanks fellas
