does anyone know exactly what should be done before i begin moddifyin my b5 s4. im new to these and dont know very much about them.

Check to make sure all the milage reccomended stuff is done (timing belt, water pump, etc). Then do DV's and a Throttle body boot to make it ready for the added boost of chipping the car.

 

similar to drug addiction, once you start modding it's expensive and hard to stop.

 

hit the nail on the head there...but damn its so much fun doing it though.....

 

As said, the TBB & DV's are basic upgrades that are needed.
Of course maintaince should all be up to date.

Just remember with added boost there is added stress. So any part that was about to fail is not going to fail.

 

just go stage III+ and you won't have to worry after that...once you are there you have pretty much eliminated all the problems (i.e. turbos, tbb, dv's)
