2000 A4 Headlight bulb won't light up?
This happened once before on the passenger side and I went down to Autozone and got the H7 replacement bulb and it fixed it. This time it is the drivers side which is much easier to get to without the Air Intake in the way. My dash lights up and beeps stating there is a headlight bulb that is bad. When I took the old one out I couldn't see it was bad. Spring still in tack nothing floating inside the bulb. Put the new one in and it doesn't light up either. I was very careful not to touch the outside of the bulb. My dash warning light still comes on telling me I have a burned out bulb and the new one is NOT working??? What am I missing here. The other lights are all working so it can't be a fuse??? Any ideas would be appreciated. v/r Scott
Yes - From memory I believe it was a brown and purple wire that plugged onto the back of the light & I reconnected those (several times) to make sure I wasn't doing something stupid. I guess I will have to run some tests and see if I am getting any juice through these wires. (I was so excited it was the drivers side that was burned out after replacing the one on the passenger side. I proudly told my wife this will be a 5 minute job - Damn I guess I jinxed myself with this one.) Any other help would be appreciated.....No longer a 5 minute job.
Any other ideas on what my problems might be. I haven't used a test unit in a while. Will I be using AC or DC or OHMS to test my wires? Also is there a way to test the bulbs to make sure I didn't buy a bad bulb. No reason to chase a wiring issue if I maybe got a bad new bulb?? Thanks Scott
I haven't tried the HIGH beam yet but that is a good idea. I also thought about switching them from side to side except that passenger one seems like it was a little tricky to get out. I'll have to break down and do it just to try and eliminate the possibility that I bought a faulty bulb. Thanks for the advice. Scott
After looking at this a little closer, I was confused on low / high and had been trying to replace the High beam vs. the low beam. So once I opened up the right one I found a burned out light and replaced with the new one and all seems to be working fine. (smokeU - thanks for the probing questions that eventually led me down the right path). L8tr, Scott
