what about the 2.8l? is that any faster than a 1.8t with a chip?

APR and I believe GIAC claim higher power with the chip in the 2001 versus the 150HP 1.8Ts. And APR doesn't even list 93 octane for the non DBW cars. Are they just putting up false numbers or are they right?
And how do you know if you have the K03 Sport turbo?

Yeah 20 hp will be a half a car length or slightly more in the quarter. I never got to drive a 2001 a4 1.8t, but like I said Id rather have the 99.5 styling as well as the real throttle vs. electronic throttle. Plus I chip my 99.5 and chip a 2001 and the difference is pretty much gone.

Its basically a K04 compressor section with a K03 turbine section.
I'm a newbie, (reads more posts than actually posts), and I don't understand how an electronic throttle in the 2001s would suck? Are the B6 A4's the same way?
(I'm looking at either a B5 or B6 A4 1.8T tip)....

Pretty much there is no throttle cable from the pedal to the throttle body on the dbw cars. The throttle is controlled by a signal sent as you press the gas pedal to the ecu which sends that signal to the TB, in turn it causes a delay. IIRC it took apr a few years to be able to chip tune the dbw cars. B6 a4s are the same way. I wouldn't worry about it unless you wanna make serious HP, or if you wanna go the standalone route.
