So i just picked up my 2001 2.8 black/black quattro 5 speed and I have had it back in my home town for about 5 days now and it just stalled out on me last night.

It was almost like whenever I would start getting good forward motion it would just cut out...almost like fuel cut (in a DSM) but not too sure what it would be in an Audi. It happened a couple times and than I decided to just pull over and get it towed. I could start it, and rev the motor and it sounded perfect, but as soon as i would put it in gear and start getting good momentum it would just cut out, it would try to "sput sput" itself back to life but it wouldnt make it.

any suggestions?? The car has 58k miles on it, so would it be something that has to do with my 60k service??

it could be many things.... im going to take it you dont have a vag-com... if at all possible go to autozone use the obd scanner find the code your throwing and fix whats wrong with it....if you cant do that... from what you just described i think its your MAF mass air flow sensor your air/fuel mixture is off... you can clean it(take a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol clean the little wire that reads air flow) or you can buy a new one... my guess is you need to by a new one with 58k on your car there a dealer part and not hard to change out buy the part and change it yourself... MAKE sure you go in for that 60k check up...

so I just got word on my car... the throttle body was dirty as hell, lol... and thats what was causing it. I'm anxious to go pick it up later cuz if thats all it was, than I'm gonna be pretty excited, but i doubt it... I have a feeling I will be taking the car back in the next couple days, lol.... but idk I took it to a VERY VERY good shop.

They also checked a lot of the things that should be checked at 60k miles and they said the vehicle is in very good condition.
