My wife's 2001 allroad 2.7 has been intermittently stalling when placing car
in drive in parking lots(usually) and stepping on gas pedal. car will start to go
then die. will restart every time but then happens again usually two or three times then all is well, and wont happen again for a few days. she also says it has died when coming to a complete stop. no faults stored in dme. i replaced fuel pump due to mileage(144,000) but two days later has happened again. any help would be appreciated.

 

My 2000 A6 Quattro is doing the same thing. I have been told that it could be a vacuum leak, or an air pump problem, or it just doesn't like me. I found a couple vacuum leaks, fixed and all seemed well for a few days then as you, it happened again. I have owned all sorts of imports and this car is very perplexing. Any help guys?

 

If car is stalling and no check engine lamp is on,i would suspect the crankshaft position sensor is failing.this fault cannot be read with generic scan tools due to it not being emissions related.
