Rough Idling / Cutting Off 2001 A6 2.8 quattro
I have a 2001 A6 2.8. While driving on the highway it felt like I was hit from behind only to realize that my car had lost all power and the anti-lock brakes activated. This happened for a brief 5 seconds and then the car drove fine and all warning lights went out. That was remedied with a new battery. Now the car was towed in to the dealer yesterday with severe idling problems that want allow the car to run more than a minute without shutting off. This is my first Audi and I not sure that I am impressed with the rings!! Any advice from fellow audi owners?

Welcome to Audi Forums dhlafevers!
Since you're new... check out the START HERE! (click this link) link to get a rundown of the lingo/vocab here at audiforums.
Then be sure to search the archives when you have a question. Chances are the question has been asked before (probably several times) and the archives will have plenty of information to answer your question. If you still need answers, please feel free to ask questions.
Don't feel intimidated; we are all a bunch of pretty cool guys (and gals). Feel free to post advice, comments, ideas, suggestions, and even pics.

Clearly you have issues with the fuel mgmt system. Audi should be able to tell you what error codes are showing. You might want to invest in your own VAG-com (like some of us here online have done) and scan the ecu yourself. It will give you a clear idea what is going on with your car at all times. It won't fix the problem, but you will know for sure what is causing your car trouble.
There were 2 TSB's issued in 2001 regarding the engine:
"UDPATE PROGRAMMING (FLASHING) ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) TO CORRECT COLD START ENGINE STUMBLE"
and
"EMISSION WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR OXYGEN SENSOR"
and 1 TSB issued in 2004 regarding the fuel system:
"LONG TERM FUEL TRIM - SYSTEM TOO RICH. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE P1123, P1125, P1137 AND P1139"
I would inquire as to whether these issues have been addressed with your car.

I have had one for a couple of years. It's been a learning experience. Probably less than 1% of the users will ever use it to it's fullest potential. There is so much within the program to use. Most users will diagnose their car and run a few samples while driving. But it can be used to do alot more. From throttle bottle alignment to resetting the remote options and radio as well as resetting fault codes, the VAG-com is clearly a capable and worthy piece of equipment.
