Default 2001 A4 Sticky Buttons

The buttons on my 2001 A4 AC Unit that control which vents the air comes out of are stuck and because of this none of the other buttons on the unit will work. I think the previous owner spilled something on them and now they are extremely sticky. HOW CAN I FIX THIS!?!?! Please someone let me know how to take these buttons out in order to clean/unstickify them.

you can use electronic cleaner. We used it in onepoint8tee's car and help a little. best solution take it apart and clean it.

Ya it helped a little... It was fine in warm weather, but now that its cold, they are still sticky except for the fan speed and temp select and recirc button. My buttons for the vents are the ones that are sticky and i cant press them or else they will get stuck in and no other buttons work.

That is EXACTLY the same problem I am having. Weird. Do you have any idea how to fix this? Mine is set on full blast heat right now and its getting kind of annoying to ride with the windows down when it is 30 degrees outside.

Im sure the best way is to just revove the unit and take the bottons off and clean it out. But you gotta remove the radio and center console to get to the screws for removal which is a PITA depending on wether or not you have a symphony HU or not.

For those of us that have a similar problem, but are far too lazy to remove the consoles....can you just take electoronics cleaner and blast it on the buttons? WD-40, ftw? (just kidding)

it is just a piece of plastic. I think no screws around to hold it. you can try to pull it gently.

Well the 99.5+ models heater/ac unit, there is litteraly no room to stick even a very small flat head screw driver inbetween the buttons to try to pry one off. I started to try that and it sorta messed up/bent one of my buttons on the edge. I think you have to take the unit out, take the face plate off and then you can grab at the buttons to pull off.
