Radio Shack's contact cleaner did the trick for me. I would definitely give that shot before pulling anything apart.

 

Thread from the dead.... but +1 for the contact cleaner. My up/middle/down vent buttons on the right side were completely stuck on my b5, I took a sharp knife and some of that cleaner and spent about 20 mins gently wedging the knife into the sides of the buttons and spraying it down with the cleaner, letting it soak and cycling the buttons until they finally spring back on their own. Didn't even have to remove the ashtray.
