2002 A4 1.8T with 150miles for 5 grand... worth it?
Hi all, I'm new to these forums, nice to meet you.
I'm in the market for my first car. A co-worker's friend has his 2002 Audi A4 1.8T for sale. He's moving next month and can't bring his car with him, so he's selling it. It has 150 miles on it. From what I remember from the short conversation I had with him, he's had a new timing belt, brake rotors/pads and water pump put in last May and has been doing regular oil changes every 5,000km with synthetic oil.
Anyways he wants five grand for it. I don't know much about cars so I'd like some input. Is this a good deal or not? What do you think?
Thanks in advance.

honestly not a bad price, but that is a lot of miles. These cars can go for a while, but would be helpful to know about any other maintenance/repairs he has had done on it.
What kind of tranny? If manual it is likely due for a new clutch, if it is front wheel drive with CVT tranny it is a timebomb waiting to blow.
These are pricey cars to maintain, especially if you have other people do the work for you.
I would probably steer you away from this being a first car just for the potential of serious repair costs with that many miles on it. Unless of course money isn't really an option, but then again you wouldn't be looking at this car if that was the case.
Good luck!
