Default 2003 1.8T air filter removal & installation: help!

I just got a drop-in K&N air filter (model #33-2309 ) for my 2003 1.8T. I tried searching for the DIY thread but all I could see was for the2002 and pre models.
I managed to remove part of the air filter assembly but am stuck as to what next to remove. Below are some pics. If anyone can walk me thru the next steps, I would be very grateful.

its a pain in the *** for a damn air filter... just start pulling stuff off till u can get it out

and be careful with the k&N, make sure u let the oil dry out in the sun for a day or so.. otherwise a lotta people have had trouble and ruined expensive MAF sensors (or had to taken them out and clean em)...

LOL, a day in the sun is a little much.......

just dont over oil it, and give it a good 30 minutes to soak in to the filter before you put it back in.

Oil does not dry out in the sun. Maybe if you cleaned it and rinsed it you need to let it dry for a while (next time) before oiling it, but you just want the oil to soak in a little, and dont use an excessive amount.

nope. some oils become jelly like under the sun, while some can harden.

If you take a look at the plastic bag the filter came in, it should say "pre-oiled, ready to use" or something similar. I just stuck the same one in mine, and have been running it for a week or so without CEL.
