2003 a4 1.8t output shaft speed sensor help!!
i have a 2003 a4 1.8t (not quattro) and the*scanner*read output shaft speed sensor problem (po722 i think). Is it possible to replace just this sensor or is it ABSOLUTELY necessary to replace the TCM (module). I'm hearing both views so far. Also, if the module does need replacement, how long/safe it is to drive without replacing it? thanks!

I don't know about the aftermarket possibilities but I do know that Audi doesn't sell the speed sensor seperately and you have to buy a whole TCM. It isn't critical if you havent noticed driviability issues other then the PRND illuminating, but I wouldnt want longer then necessary.

Yeah the PRND is flashing after the rpms jerk up and down, forcing me to pull over sometimes. Only happens in the morning. If there is an aftermarket possibility, I will find it. Also, my acceleration is terrible and gas mileage is even worse. I need to get this fixed :/ Thanks so much for replying, now I know there's some hope
