P0722 Output Speed Sensor No Signal - TCM problem
Have a question...
I have a 2005 Audi A4 and the MIL is on.
My symptoms are as follows:
Transmission first started switching into S gear on it's own while driving on the freeway. Then when I was backing out of my driveway, it slipped out of reverse and into neutral. Re-shifted gears and it started working fine, except the PRNDS started flashing and continued to flash until i turned the car off. Now it has been shifting into S gear more often when I'm on the freeway and will not shift into any other gear when that happens.
I had it scanned and it was a P0722 - Output Speed Sensor No Signal.
I've read on other forums that there may be multiple speed sensors that will give that OBDII code?
Or that the Output Speed Sensor is actually connected to the TCM and that the TCM itself needs to be replaced? Is that true?
Can a bad output speed sensor cause those symptoms? Or does that sound more like the TCM itself?
I've taken it back to the dealer I bought it from because they said they would fix whatever problem was causing the MIL to light up. They said that they are going to replace the sensor. I'm wondering if replacing just the sensor will fix the problem or not...
Thanks for anyone's advice...

Did you get fixed?
What ended up happening with this repair? I have the EXACT same issues right now...am being told that I may need a new transmission on a car that has been babied and only has 42K miles...please advise.
Thanks.
Ken
