2004 Audi A4
Hey everyone, I just bought an 04 A4 1.8T FWD with the tiptronic transmission and I'm looking to do a few mods. Any advice anyone has would be great. I don't want to void my warranty or the cpo on this vehicle.
I'd like to do a high fow air filter or an intake. I've always used K&N in the past...unless there's something better?
I drove a few cars that have the really bright blue head lamps...and I like it. It seems to give more visablity. It's...a cleaner light maybe? Dunno if that's the correct word. The bulbs now seem yellow...as opposed to the white or blue. Can I just swap out headlight bulbs for that cool blue effect?
The stock 16 inch rims need to go away.... Been looking on ebay for some alloy spoke 18's.... saw some similar on an A6 I really liked... I hope it'll make the car stand out more. Recommendations? Anything I should be aware of?
My car has the bose sound system in it...what about that is different from the factory system? Can an Audi MMI unit from a newer Audi be put in? is it the same wiring harness? or different? If the factory one can't be utilized... can you all recommend a good double din aftermarket unit that has DVD and NAV built in? Something that could be flush mounted and looks nice would be appreciated.
I'm looking to do the mods in that order... depending on price and practicality. I need to go sit down and talk with my audi dealer too...
I restore old muscle cars as a hobby, so if anyone could use advice on paint work, paint care, or anything of that nature, let me know. I'd love to help out.
Again, thanks everyone

Welcome! I'm not sure on some of your questions, but I'll do what I can.
high fow air filter or an intake- K&N uses a lot of oil on their filters. The excess oil ends up on your MAF and causing it to read badly. You can either stick to a paper filter or wipe as much oil off as possible and leave it out to dry for at least a day. Do not get a "cold air" intake. Most just suck in hot air from the engine bay. The stock airbox will flow enough for 300 hp.
head lamps- The coloring is from HID lights. The color has to do with the temperature. There's a few kits out there, but be prepared to spend around $250+ for them. Just getting the bulbs alone will not work unless your car is already equipped.
wheels- First off, be careful with anything on Ebay. Any pics of what you're looking for and how much you're looking to spend?
Check out the Audi Links. Tons of websites with stuff for our cars. If there's anyting you don't see there, try a search before posting about it. Searching will save a lot of time and people bitching about other not using the search.

While the blue lights look cool, they actually give less light than yellower lights, all things considered. If you have High intensity discharge xenon lights, the OEM are 4700K, which looks yellowish, but actually gives the best visibility at night. 6000K give a whiter light with little loss of visibility. Going much higher, you get much more blue/purple, but sacrifice ability to see at night.
