2006 A4 quatro. bad vibration
I have a 2006 6 speed a4 quattro. I took it out of the driveway today and as I pulled into the street I sped up in first gear until I hit about 5k rpm. Then shifted to second and so on. Well right then the check engine light started flashing. And then noticed that at low rpm in any gear I have a wicked vibration all of a sudden. Opened the hood and saw nothing out of place. No smoke or odd smell. The vibration is quite strong and there is a clear loss of power with attempting to accelerate along with a slightly stronger vibration.
Any thoughts.

Are you able to scan it yourself or have a place like Autozone scan it for you? If you can provide us with some codes we might be able to give you some good advice. Until then it's really a guessing game.
This could be a misfire issue, or even a vacuum leak may lead you to describe what you just did in certain instances.

If your check engine light is flashing it means that its misfiring.. Go to AutoZone and get it read and the code should tell you what cylinder.
I would first replace all the plugs with a new set of Bosch double platinums. DO NOT GAP THEM
If the misfire is still happening I would replace the coil on the misfiring cylinder.

When I first got my A6 and took it to the dealer, I was surprised that they actually admitted to there being a recall on the coil packs and did it no questions asked. I'm fortunate to live near a good dealer.
