2012 Tech vs 2014 Komfort
Hi everyone!
I would love to get some feedback. My wife and I are going to buy our first Audi and it has come down to two options:
1. 2012 A4 with tech package, 36,000km (22,000 miles). Out of warranty.
2. 2014 A4 premium, 50,000km (31,000 miles). Still lots in warranty (about 2 years worth)
The 2012 is of course a lot more affordable (about $6K less), but that's not the only criteria. It's our first premium car and have heard good and bad things about ongoing maintenance costs, so having that piece of mind is definitely worth something. I love the new styling of the 2014.
Any thoughts or advice on going with the older A4 vs a newer one? Were there any huge issues with the 2012 model? What would you go for?
Thanks in advance!

I normally would opt for the newest model year if all things are equal. The warranty is nice to have. I am not aware of issues with either model year, but not many own the newer models that post here. I would guess they are very similar. Might want to read the new car reviews for 2012, 2013, and 2014 model years. Might tell you any differences. Read the 2013 as it will state changes from 2012 and the 2014 will add to that.
These cars can be more expensive to maintain. I have argued that I haven't really seen it outside using full synthetic oil compared to standard oil. Since I would use the synthetic oil anyhow I don't see that as an increased cost.
