Default 225/45/17 on 17x8?

I have a B6 A4 with a sport package. The wheels are the standard 17" (17x8 I believe), currently running 235/45/17 summer tires. Looking to get a winter set and thinking of a slightly narrower 225/45/17... will they fit well? Has anyone had an experience with that?

Thanks!

You can easily run a 225/45/17... but honestly, if you have the space... check the classifieds. Where abouts are you located? There are a few winter wheel packages for sale right now... having a 15 or 16" wheel is best suited for winter... and saves having to get tires taken off the rim twice a year (the rims can get damaged over time).

Just my 0.02!

Thanks... I'm near Cleveland, OH. I've checked the classifieds, didn't seem to find anything interesting... what were you referring to?

I have 225/45-17 on my 17x8 and it's fine. Obviously, a cheap set of 16x7s would be better for winter, but if you either can't afford another set of wheels and tires (like me) or have big brakes that can't clear 16s (like me) then yeah, 225/45 is fine. You might even be able to swing a 225/50; I think B6s have a lot more room.
