Default 235/40/18 tires on b5

im running 235/40/18 now and i have h&r coilovers with about a 1 inch drop. my fenders rub a bit under hard cornering ( i tore a chunk of tread off when i jumped my car while enjoying quattro) i want to go lower so im getting my fenders rolled. so how low can i go im hoping for a total of almost 2 inch drop with no rubbing. is it posible? also i saw tomritt pulled his fenders. how is this done?

He did it with a bat and a heat gun, but he is pretty hardcore. You can rent a rolling tool, I think purems has one. As for no rubbing, I don't see it, although I'm not an expert. I have about a 1.5 inch drop from stock-sport, and i have 225/45-17s, and I rub under cornering also.

i see a bunch of b5s way lower then mine. mostly 225/40/18 does the 10mm of tread make that much of a difference?

wow, only 1.5" and you rub! I guess I'm not in the world of minitrucks anymore. lol. My truck had just over 9" of drop when it was all the way down.

You can roll your fenders with 235's and you will be fine. I had a 1 finger gap on my sedan with race springs. I rubbed like crazy with my 235/40/18's until I rolled them with my rolling tool ( a modified rolling pin)

Pics? Instructions? I hope to buy coilovers soon, then wheels... And I want to go 235 45 17's... so if rolling the fenders is a must, then so be it. Just wanna know if its something I can do myself, or how much it costs to pay someone.

Yea I rolled mine with a baseball bat and a heat gun. It didnt chip to bad when I did it, but now its all chipped from the occasional rub and general debris spraying off the tires. The chipping cannot be seen from the outside, and isn't rusting so I dont worry about it. I kinda pulled my fenders just by prying against the back of them with the basball bat. I also trimmed the spots on my fender liners that rubbed. I am thinking of getting lips that are another .5" wider, and maybe 1" wider in back, which would require about a 245 up front and prolly 265 out back. I'm starting to like the euro stretch look for some reason
