i have a 1996 2.8 L A4 Quattro and im getting 290 miles per tank of gas...i was under the impression i should be getting 400 or more?


i have a faulty engine temp coolant sensor..but i doubt that would be the sole reason im losing over 100 miles per tank of gas?

 

That's about what I get. Have you changed the O2 sensors?

 

not yet..just got the car.......


i hear others are getting around 310-330..so i must have gotten some faulty specs on my car....what i got was that new it was 25/26 mpg...now give it a few mpg loss over the years...22/23 mpg in a 16 gallon tank would be 368 mile per tank highway and 352 city....

 

my gas light comes on at about 14 gallons...and you really shouldn't drain your tank between fill-ups, it's bad for the injectors...but from what i've seen 20 is about average...that's just about what i get...try some injector cleaner (fuel additive) i gained about 50 miles per tank off two treatments...

 

same here about 20miles to the gallon depending i deliver pizza out here in jersey so sometimes i get worse cause of the stop and go i have to do but verys

 

yeah....i did a few more searches for specs....the tank is 16.4 gallons..the city is 19 mpg..and the highway is 26 mpg...so that averages around 22..with a few mpg drop over the years you'd expect around 300-330 with a mix of city and highway...

so im not as far off as i believed...will see what the tuneup and sensor change does!

 

My '99 A4 says about 17.7 average but I need to replace teh MAF (waiting for the part) and proably give it a tune up.
