Default 87 octane in 3.0

how many of you use 87 octane in their 3.0 quattro, the dealarship says i can use it, but after reading posts here it seems most people appear to be using higher.

I tried the lower octane for awhile andnoticed no real difference.I normally use 89 for a couple of weeks then use 91 for a couple. Except for the difference in price, it runs the same for me.

20 more cents a gallon = $3.00 more per fill up. Use the good stuff that your engine is tuned for. It says no less than 91 on the gas door.

I agree. I havent noticed MUCH difference between 87 and 93 on my 1.8t, but I did notice less bogging before boost. It seems to be a little more smooth running 93 octane. For a few bucks more, Im sure it wont break you, but at the same time, its really not that much different.

all Audi's run on unleaded regardless of octane rated they just run better on higher octane, 87 is ok as long as its for where you live and no other fuel is available ( these engine are very versatile you know

lol i was thinking the same thing. but i run on 92 which is the prem here. figure whats a couple more bucks if it makes my car run "better" or make my engine happy with me. but running 87 shouldnt be bad.

around here they sell 87, 89 and 93. So I buy the 93. I only fill up once every 2 weeks so its not that big of a cost. I put 89 in it once but didn't notice any difference. Didn't push the motor either.
