My wife's 96 A4 all the sudden decided not move from a stop unless the shift selector is placed in low (2nd) gear. Once moving, the trans shifts normally in all other aspects until you come to a stop again. Then you have to shift to 2nd again to get going. If you try to start out in Drive, the trans seems to be slipping, and will only creep ahead. I took it to an Audi dealer, but they just said they'd have to pull the tranny to see what was wrong. Wondering if there are some less drastic measures I can take to check out the source of the problem.
