98 CD Changer
I had a 96 Audi and just got a 98. The 6 CD Changer in the old one was great, but the one in the 98 loads every CD before it plays one, which takes FOREVER, and then... it wont even play any CDs. It's a piece of ****, so I wanted to get a new one, but I looked on crutchfield, and there was only one for it, and it was a really generic model. I'd like to get a nice one that's fast and works most importantly. Also, this car is REEALLY bad about the CD Skipping on bumps. If you mess with a CD for an hour, it will play, but only until you hit a few bumps, then it wont read anything. Bumps that wouldn't have effected the 96 at all would rock this one's world. It could have been because the CD Changer was on the brink, but I suspect that it may be because the CD Changer is made into the trunk, where the other was hanging, so there is no shock absorbtion. If that is true, what is the easiest way to fix this situation and allow the CD Changer to no skip so much. I would think a good pioneer CD Changer would have shock absorbtion, but from what I see no good manufacturers make a CD Changer to fit this car. Please help, I really like Audis but I'm really peeved about the quality of this CD Changer. The car only has 38,000 miles so the CD changer should definately not be showing age.
I believe you can buy a Panasonic unit that will work. You'll need an adapter. PIE sells one:
