Default 99 1.8t just bought...couple questions

The car did not come with an owners manual. My first question is on the insturment panel I wil get a amber color 1 with MPH with a circle arount it and a beep all at the same time. It will happen about every 10-12 minutes. Anyone know what this is? Also, how do you select the display? Mine seems to be in a scan mode. it changes from MPG to other settings at random??? Also there is a howling road noise that begins around 45-50 mph. Does not sound like a bearing (from my worn out bearing experience) Could this have something to do with the turbo???vent hose???

Thanks.

the MPH circle is a speed limiter that reminds you when you pass a certain MPH. it can be set with the right or left stick on the gauge cluster. not sure which one...

is your car at or stick?

on the road noise if it is coming from your right side you may want to check the condition of your exhaust gasket and gaskets to catalytic. i had a similar problem that kept evading me. i found the nuts to the exhaust manifold at the engine were very loose. i went ahead and replaced the gasket at the exh man. and cat gaskets torqued the nuts correctly and it took care of the noise. fairly straight forward repair other than 1 #@!%&* allen screw at a support under the exhaust.
