A4 1.8 Missing on 3 cylinders
I have a 2000 A4. A few days ago it started randomly missing, shuddering, shaking and loss of power. It is totally random. It will suddenly drive fine for hours then start while driving or after being shut off, for both long periods and short. I took it to Autozone got the follwing codes back.P1128, P0332, P0507, P0113 and the 3 cylinder mis-fires. The sucky part is cant take it to the shop for 6 days. Questions are...any thoughts on what might be the cause ? And is it safe to drive at all until I get it looked at ?

safe? i wouldn risk it, depends on how bad the misfires, and how far u plan to drive it,
you need to tell us the tipe of engine and more information about your car, but most likely, ICM, ignition control module, IMO

Well its a2000 A4 Avant 1.8 turbo, manual. Not modified in any way so itspretty stock. Curious about whether its safe drive since it could very well run fine for 60 miles, then badly for 10 etc.

i had this happen to my 2003 1.8T, I got all my cylinders replaced b/c i was still under warranty. I dont even want to know how much it will cost you.
p.s. it happened b/c i left it w/ my sister for a few months and she never put oil in it.

My guess is the coils. Do the 2000's have coil packs? I had them all go bad on my '03 more or less all at once. If you do replace them, go with the Hitachi kit that ECS tuning sells. The stock ones are known for failing, at least on my car.
Definitely check what the others have suggested. Run your tank low, throw in a bottle of Techron and some good gas, and see if the problem goes away. Could also be a vacuum leak. Those check valves are notorious for breaking. Check your plugs to see if they have been fouled. Or just change them if its been a while.
Good luck...I don't think you need "new cylinders"!

If you find out its your coil packs, BUY MINE!
First change your plugs if you havent lately, or dont know when/if ever theyve been replaced. Even though you shouldnt, regular 87 oct shouldnt give you misfires. Ignition is controled by the ecu, 00+ dont have ICM's that go bad, and the wiring at the ecu is never a problem that ive heard of. Its gotta be spark plug/coilpack/fuel delivery related.
