A4 1.8t Ko4 boost PROB.
Hi guys I have a 2002 Audi a4 1.8t. My problem is that when i firts start the car up and drive for the first 2min I have lots of boost coming from my Ko4 and later it disapears about have of boost is gone. I have a giac chip installed and its not programed for the ko4. And is it OK for the turbo to turn Red with the cat. ???

i would suggest to you my good friend to obtain a ko4 file......not just run it on a straight chip.

I know for a fact that 2 guys on audizine blew motors using chipped 93 on a k04. One dude did it a week before he got his new programmig. I wouldn't do it for very long. (technically speaking 'I' wouldn't do it at all)

ah yes, well the chip he has, giac, is a agressive tune. and ive heard that you can just upgrade the turbo and BAM you have a appropriate tune. But if you are going to do the upgrade, you might as well go all out and get the ko4 tune as well. look at the bright side, if you have giac, you already have 200 off on your ko4 tune purchase.
GIAC has done the research and dyno testing to show that the K03 programming is ok for running a K04. I know this for sure because I asked them. This has been a GIAC fix for some of the K04 programming issues they have had with the '01 & '01.5 models. I don't know why you would want to run on K03 programming, if you have the $200 to upgrade to k04 programming, but you can and GIAC says that it is safe.
I can only speculate as to why the 2 guys on the Zine blew their motors.
