A4 1600 '99 stalling problem!
Hi I've just bought my first Audi. Its an A4 '99 manual right hand drive 1600cc.
I have to say the clutch and throttle are incredibly sensitive and theres a problem with stalling when slowing down.
I'm not sure if its me but when I'm slowing down for a corner or pulling up to lights and press the clutch to stop the REV counter drops drastically to nearly 0rpm before going back to 1000rpm. This sometimes stalls the engine and can be dangerous, the other day I was approaching a right turn and changed down from third to second but the engine stalled while the clutch was still pressed which I didnt notice till I was half way round the corner and the power steering went. I thought the damn steering had locked on me and almost hit the curb!
Is this a problem with my technique or a clutch problem? Surely the RPM shouldnt go that low when putting the clutch down? There are no warning lights, has just past MOT and has been regularly serviced.

The first thing to try I think is to get a vag-com to make a throttle valve control adaptation.
If the idle rpm is too low, you can also reset it using the vag-com.
I have got an 1999 a4 with munual transmission, and I found the clutch really very sensitive.
