Default A4 3.0 Oil Change

I am sure that this question has been answered a million times already. But anyway:

I have a 2004 A4 3.0 quattro. I have only had the car for a few months. How often does the oil need to be changed (I have heard anywhere from 5000-10000 miles)? I know to use a full synthetic, but is any particular grade best for my car (no turbo)? Also, is it necessary to get the full "service" at the dealership or will I be ok just getting the oil changed anywhere and replacing random parts as necessary?

I am by no means a do it yourselfer, just want to make sure I take good care of my car. Any other tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'd recommend 3k-5k interval with 5w30 or 0w40 FULL synthetic. Mobil1, valvoline, amsoil are all good choices. The stealership is gonna overcharge you for "full service" but if its under warranty then let them deal with it. Take it to a reputable shop or anywhere that has a warranty on their work. Stay away from jiffylube, quicklube, walmart or any place like those.
