A4 B5 front speaker install
yep i've got yet another question.....
the front speakers in my 96 a4 need replacing and i've read the DIY info for removing the speakers but i need to know how people got on with fitting aftermarket speakers to the standard 4" speaker bracket.
Is their much modification required? Anyone got any pics showing a bracket modified to fit non factory speakers?
thanks guys

You can do a quick search... I posted in somebody elses stereo thread a little while ago, in the A4 section... keyword 'dynamat' should help.
I used dynamat to hold in a 5.25" speaker. Works like a charm.

prob easiest to buy adaptors, I think for your model Audi allows you to put in 5 inch woofers, make sure they aren't too deep though.
when you buy them you can also get rear speaker adaptors, head unit adaptor and antenna thingy. Might pay to buy them all in one go if you need them.

I'm telling you... use dynamat. You only need like a square foot per side, and just take your time cutting it carefully. It works SO well. The speaker cannot budge at all, and you don't need to worry about mounting depth, because you don't need to use some 1/4" thick adapter. Note the pics below... there are NO bolts or screws holding the speakers in. They weren't necessary. I've since removed the Type X speakers and installed Focal Polykevlars the same way. Perfect.
