A4 B6 1.8t tuning life
Hello, I am relatively new to tuning and I have a few questions about tuning my A4 1.8t B6 Quattro. My major concern is running too much where my engine life is hurt (as in lower than 105,000+ miles). Right now I am stock with boost at about 12psi. Want to know your experience/advice from those who know. This is what I plan to do and want to know if something would give more power without hurting the engine or at what pressure I should run for this setup:
-high flow exhaust (having custom bulit at shop for about $700)
-giac chip(don't know what boost is safe and reliable)
-gt28r or gt25r or even k04 but rather have the gt's(don't know which turbo yet)
-side mount intercooler
-cold air intake
I will also will be running on 93 or higher octane and hoping for 270hp and 260lb-ft. Also, my budget is about $3800-4200 including some labor.
Thanks

Actually I am first asking what boost pressure should be good for max preformance yet be safe for the engine overtime?
I gave the future setup but if somehting (such as which turbo or boost psi) would help greatly.
Also what kind of hp and lb-ft is expected in this...is 270 and 260 a good estimate? Thank you

My car has 100,079 miles on it and has been chipped since like 2000 miles. The chip is good for about 18psi or more. These engines are pretty damn strong. And your goals are pretty conservative. A K04 won't get you there, but a GT28R will. Probably 16psi or so boost on that turbo.
Forget about the side mounts, no one makes a good one. Forget the GIAC chip, they only program for K03-4. Your best bet would be an APR stg III kit, but your budget won't allow that, so you'll have to piece it together yourself.
Actually, I think AWE is coming out with a GT28R kit, which might be perfect for you. Don't know the pricing yet, but when it becomes available to the public (some prototypes are out there getting good reviews) you should buy it.
