A4 Brake Lights Come on Randomly
My A4 is having an issue with the outer (tail-light) brake lights coming on when the car is parked. I have researched this issue on the forums and determined it might be a bad brake pedal switch. However, if that were the case, wouldn't the center brake light come on too?
I can get the lights to go out by opening a door or by pressing the unlock button on the key fob. This doesn't sound like a faulty brake light switch to me. I have also been having some issues with the ESP (traction control) when the car is cold. The car will loose acceleration like the ESP program is telling the computer the wheels are spinning. I think this may be related in some way.
My rear brake pads are wore out and I will be replacing them this weekend, along with the brake light switch. Anyone else have this issue? Any help would be appreciated.

The ESP button could be getting triggered by a faulty or dirty wheel speed sensor. When you do your brakes (assuming front and rear) inspect your wheel speed sensors for any split wires or anything out of the ordinary.
As for the rear brake lights does the center light come on when you push the brakes? Getting a new brake light switch in would definitely be a good place to start.
Also which year is your A4?
