I have a 1996 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro and its been having this problem for a long time. Then it kind went away for a while and now came back. It drives fine and idles fine when I start it but sometimes when I let go of gas and come to a stop the engine just dies out and I have to crank it every other time I stop somewhere.

Anyone have any clue as to what the problem might be?

 

injectors or fuel filter or both... mine did the same thing a while back, i threw in some seafoam, changed the fuel filter and its fixed the dying at he light problem, but it still every once in a while drops down to like 200rpm then kicks back up to 800... so it could be my injectors too.. but then again i also have low compression in 2 cylinders haha... so that could be it
