Default A4 Brake Squeel

I purchased an '04 cabrio w/3.0L engine 18 mos ago. Since purchase. mybrakes have been sqeeking and sqeeling. I love the car except this is unbearable. My wife is ready to sell it. Does ANYONE know a cure? This is a common Audi complaint and Audi does not address it except from a functional point of view. If brakes stop the car, then they're ok.... UNACCEPTABLE in a 45K auto. Any input is appreciated. THANKS!!

Brake squeel is mainly caused by badly or unevenly worn pads, brand new brakes also squeel but it minimal. I don't see how the dealer hasn't done something about it. Have them go ahead and change the pads, or atleast apply some anti-squeel. I know its annoying but squeeky brakes is no reason to get rid of a car, this problem can be easily fixed. Another option is to get aftermarket pads that help minimize brake squeel, mintex and PBR are good brands.

OK Here's the latest on my squeeling problem. Took car to New Country Audi in Greenwich CT Was told barkes are performing according to manufact. specs. Wasn't pleased. I was never disputing stopping ability, only the horrible squeel at miderate pressure and at almost all speeds. Called Audi USA and opened a case. They investigated and called me back and told me to basically there's nothing they can (read as "WOULD") do. I'm done withthis car if they can't fix a simple problem. I'm going to replace the pads at my own expense and sell the GD thing. I don't want a vehicle the dealer and/or manufacturerwon't stnad behind. This is not unreasonable to expect. I will runback to BMW and drive the cars I've been in for 16 yrs without a problem EVER !!
I'm onlyu posting this because I'd like to put other owners with the same complaint on notice that they've got their hands fulll with Audi's official position on this. Good LUCK folks, and GOOD RIDDENCE to Audi. You can only screw me once where a car is concerned.

Well I guess audis arent for everyone, they do have their faults, and the brake squeel is a very common one. Best thing to do is switch to aftermarket pads and rotors, and if you can't do it yourself find an independent tech who'll do it for half what the dealership quotes. Yes Audi customer service is atrocious and thats enough to turn people away. Personally I prefer staying away from the dealership as much as possible but in most cases its unavoidable. Goodluck with selling that car and I can't blame you for going back to BMW, atleast they pretend they give a **** about you and your car.
