A4 electrical promblems?
I am brand new to this forum and in the market for a new car. My first choice is a 2001 1.8L quatro. I love the idea of all wheel drive in the the northeast and want to mod the chip to get the hp over 200. My biggest promblem with this car is that i keep hearing there are elctrical promblems and to fix this costs a pretty penny. I know everyone loves audi's in this forum but am i going to have alot of promblems with an A4?. My other question is i dont understand the difference in the B5 model compared to the B6 model and how to tell the difference. I would appreciate any comments because i really want this car but i dont know if its worth it.
The electrical problems aren't really THAT bad. There is no way to tell you if you will experience them. I've never had a problem that wasn't shared by all other makes/models.

So when i go to the dealership i should ask if the ignition coils where replaced. Are there any other questions i should be asking concerning the recall and other parts that should of been replaced.
also, if your looking at 1.8T's remember this................
body style change took place in '02
and in '01 the 1.8 got 20 x-tra horses (up to 170 from 150)
so, most of the B5's have 150hp except for the '01 which got 170 / B6's still have 170
alot of people prefer the B5 body over the B6 (myself included)
so it might take a little extra hunting, but if you find an '01 , it will be a little faster than a 96-2000
